Dorothy's Wild Saskatoon Jelly
The Saskatoon berry (aka Juneberry or Service berry)is only grown in the north. Its name comes from a Cree word misâskwatômina. The city of Saskatoon in Canada is named after this sweet, purple berry. It was one of the common ingredients in the Navtive American food called pemmican. I was introduced to this berry on walks around Hayden Lake in North Idaho. Try this delicious jelly with the frontier past.
